Why do men like dogs as pets and women like cats as pets?

Is it masculine to have dog as pet and feminine to have cat as a pet. Or is it just their liking for that animal.

I have seen many girls love to have dogs as pets. But as you asked I have seen in many Asian countries, Singapore, China and Japan cats are more popular and found in every house.

Gender has nothing to do with it. Both men and women like dogs and also cats.
